Síle Culley, Jessie Fisk & Sean Clancy Selected to Attend Berlinale Talents

Irish filmmaker Sean Clancy, UK-based distributor Síle Culley and producer Jessie Fisk have been selected to attend Berlinale Talents 2019.

Sean has written and directed short films including Cavalier as well as the award winning feature film Locus of Control, to be released later this year.

Jessie Fisk’s credits include Songs of Granite, Losing Alaska and Rialto, which is due for release.

An initiative of the Berlin International Film Festival, Berlinale Talents is a weeklong talent development programme for the world’s top 250 emerging filmmakers.

From February 9 to 14, 2019, the up-and-coming film professionals will gather at Berlinale Talents to share ideas, network, and further develop their latest projects. This year’s group of 141 women and 109 men is socially, culturally, and artistically extremely diverse. The 250 participants at this year’s Berlinale Talents, were chosen from 3,401 international applicants by an internal selection committee on the basis of prior achievements, resonance and relevance of the work as well as exceptional promise.

Irish Directing, Producing and Writing Talent Selected for Berlinale Talents 2016

Berlinale Talents is set to kick off alongside the Berlin International Film Festival, with Irish-based filmmakers Brian Deane of TW Films, Rory Dungan of Tilted Pictures and Nora Windeck of Highly Stimulating Productions chosen to participate.

Deane, Dungan and Windeck are amongst 300 participants at this year’s Berlinale Talents, which were chosen from 2,648 international applicants by an internal selection committee on the basis of prior achievements, resonance and relevance of the work as well as exceptional promise.

Berlinale Talents is an initiative of the festival, offering an extensive summit programme of master classes and panel discussions with industry experts alongside project labs, studio programmes and workshops for film professionals. Experts to have taken part in previous editions include Willem Defoe, Ralph Fiennes, Stephen Friers, Dennis Hopper, Mike Leigh, Ken Loach, Andie McDowell, Keanu Reeves, Ridley Scott and Tilda Swinton.

Brian Deane has directed short films including Volkswagen Joe and the IFB-funded Blight and Céad Ghrá, in addition to Storyland webseries CTRL.

Rory Dungan is the producer of short films including The Mill, Cluck, Doghouse and The First Wave in addition to TV work including The Treaty 1921 and The Gentleman Prizefighter.

Nora Windeck is a German producer and writer based in Ireland. To date she has written and produced short films Long is the Way, Darkroom and The Swing.
