Sam Rom (DIR: Katie-Ruby McLaughlin Robinson)
Sam Rom is the first documentary of its kind to offer an intimate and reflective exploration of the Roma community in Ireland. Centred on those living in Donegal, the film captures moments of resilience and belonging through deeply personal interviews and quietly observational footage. From the mainland to the shores of Árainn Mhór, where Ukrainian Roma have sought refuge, Sam Rom shines a light on stories of heritage, displacement and belonging — fostering empathy and understanding, while offering an insight into and a celebration of this rich and resilient culture.
Sam Rom screens as part of Irish Documentaries 2 on Sunday, 13th July at 10:30 in Town Hall Theatre.
