The National Film School Lecture Series: Ed Guiney


The National Film School Lecture Series in association with Bord Scannán na hÉireann / The Irish Film Board welcome Ed Guiney, Academy Award® nominated Producer of Room.

Ed Guiney is one of Ireland’s best-known and busiest producers for film and television and runs Element Pictures with his business partner, Andrew Lowe. He has been closely involved with Lenny Abrahamson’s work from the short, 3 Joes, twenty-five years ago to the hugely successful Room. Other credits include: The Lobster, directed by Yorgos Lanthimos (BAFTA and European Film Academy nominations); Gerard Barrett’s Grasslands; Red Rock (TV3); Shadowland; The Guard; Lassie; Boy Eats Girl; Omagh (BAFTA TV Award); Disco Pigs, directed by Kirsten Sheridan; Sweety Barrett; Guiltrip, directed by Gerard Stembridge; and Paddy Breathnach’s Ailsa. He has received six IFTA nominations, winning three times.


The talk will be held on the IADT campus on TUESDAY 8 MARCH 2016 in Room C026 [TBC] at 6.00 pm at Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art Design and Technology | Kill Avenue, Dun Laoghaire, Co Dublin.

Dearbhla Regan talks to director Paddy Breathnach and producer Ed Guiney about their experiences making Ailsa a psychological drama set in Dublin.

Paddy Breathnach went on to direct the acclaimed I Went Down, Man About Dog amongst others, while Ed Guiney founded Element Pictures (The Wind That Shakes The BarleyThe GuardGarage) with Andrew Lowe.
