FilmOffaly and FilmBase Announce 2016 Short Film Award

FilmOffaly, Offaly’s Film Commission in association with Filmbase have announced the FilmOffaly Short Film Award 2016. The award of €8,000 aims to foster creative, resourceful filmmaking in the county. Up and running since 2008, FilmOffaly are looking for unique, original stories by talented new filmmakers, professional and novice alike. The only stipulation is that the filming must take place in Offaly.

 

The winning applicant will receive €8,000 towards the cost of their production, a local premiere, one year’s Filmbase membership for the writer, producer and director of the winning film. Also included in the bursary is a 50% discount on production equipment and/or editing facilities from Filmbase for the project and Filmbase’s Production Insurance to cover the shoot.

Offaly County Council’s Arts Officer Sinead O’Reilly illustrates “We’ve seen a noticeable increase in film activity in Offaly in recent years. The county has a distinctive and diverse landscape, a network of resources and importantly an enthusiasm for welcoming filmmakers and getting involved.”

All entries must be received by 3pm on Friday 4th March 2016

This funding initiative aims to foster creative, resourceful filmmaking in the county. FilmOffaly are looking for unique, original short stories/documentaries by talented new filmmakers, professional and novice alike.

The only stipulation is that the filming must take place in Offaly.

There will be one award to one successful applicant. The winning applicant will receive: €8,000 towards the cost of their production/ A local premier/ 1-year’s Filmbase membership to the Writer, Producer and Director of the winning film/A 50% discount on production equipment and/or editing facilities from Filmbase for the project/ Filmbase’s production insurance to cover the shoot. The award will be based on a two stage application process.

FilmOffaly/Filmbase 2014 Bursary Award Announced

FilmOffaly & Filmbase have announced the launch of their 2014 Bursary Award. This funding initiative aims to foster creative and resourceful filmmaking in Co. Offaly. They are looking for original, entertaining stories by talented filmmakers, who – if selected – must set and shoot their project in the county.

 

The award will be given to one successful applicant who will receive €8,000 towards the cost of their production, along with one year’s membership to Filmbase, a 50% discount on equipment hire from Filmbase and more.

 

 

In order to be eligible for the award, applicants must have full, legal rights to the material they are submitting. Short films of any style and genre will be accepted as long as they are under 20 minutes in duration. Simply attach three copies of your script along with a 500 word synopsis and application form and post to:

Short-listed applciants will then be contacted for interviews and will need to provide further documentation, more details of which can be found in the downloadable PDF guidelines below. Deadline for submissions is 3pm on Friday 4th April 2014.

 

All posted entries must be postmarked by Thursday 3rd April and anyone shipping their scripts internationally are advised to allow an extra week for additional postage time.

FilmOffaly Celebrate 5th birthday

FilmOffaly are holding an event at Filmbase, Dublin on the 14th November to celebrate the 5th birthday of FilmOffaly and the launch of their new Vendor Discount Scheme.
The event will include a food and drinks reception, screenings and special guests, offering the perfect opportunity to  bring all of FilmOffaly’s industry friends, old and new, together to see what Offaly can offer filmmakers.
The event begins at 6pm.

‘How to Get Your Short Film Funded’ session

FilmOffaly, in association with Filmbase, will present an information session and programme of short films for prospective filmmakers intending to apply for funding from Irish funding agencies.

The session will be hosted by Filmbase director, Alan Fitzpatrick, who will cover the various funds available to Irish filmmakers, submission processes, avoiding common mistakes and preparing an interview package.

This session will be useful for anyone intending to submit a script for the Filmbase/RTÉ Short Film Awards (deadline 25th March) and the FilmOffaly/Filmbase award (deadline 1st April).

The event will take place in the Birr Theatre and Arts Centre at 2pm on Tuesday 8th March 2011. This is a free event but booking is essential. Phone 057 912 2911 or email birrtheatre@eircom.net to reserve your place
