In this Film Ireland Podcast, Gemma Creagh talks to Claire Dix about her feature debut, written by Ailbhe Keogan and stars Barry Ward, Liam Carney and Maureen Beattie.
Former-addict Leon (Ward) loves his best friend Iver (Carney) more than anything else in the world. Iver’s the reason he’s clean and romping about the place like a wild pinball. So when Iver gets a terminal diagnosis and decides to leave this earth early, Leon’s not about to let him go without a fight, even if it means being a royal pain in the arse. He forces Iver to agree to one last day in Dublin, hoping to convince him to live. Will he succeed? The outcome knocks both of them off course: some things are so wrong they’re right….
The film which was produced by Roisin Geraghty for Keeper Pictures (formerly Blinder Films) screened at both the Glasgow Film Festival and Dublin International Film Festival.
Claire Dix is an award-winning filmmaker in both short fiction and documentary films who has received two IFTA nominations. Her debut feature documentary BROKEN SONG picked up the Audience Award at the Dublin International Film Festival in 2013 while more recently her short films have garnered awards at film festivals across the globe.
This is the second time Dix has collaborated with writer Ailbhe Keogan and producer Roisin Geraghty as they previously worked together on the short film TAKE ME SWIMMING.
