Irish author and film historian Wayne Byrne will be making his debut literary festival appearance at this year’s Kildare Readers Festival. An event will take place in Naas Library on October 4th at 7pm at which Wayne will be interviewed by novelist and screenwriter Lindsay J. Sedgwick. The pair will take a deep dive into Wayne’s literary career and various books including The Cinema of Tom DiCillo, Burt Reynolds on Screen, Nick McLean Behind the Camera, Welcome to Elm Street, and his new release, Walter Hill: The Cinema of a Hollywood Maverick.
Wayne’s book on Walter Hill will be the first major literary work on the American auteur director of such hard-edged cult classics as The Warriors, 48 Hrs., Southern Comfort, The Long Riders, and the upcoming western Dead for a Dollar. Wayne has spent the past year interviewing Walter and his many collaborators, including actors, cinematographers, composers, screenwriters, and many more in crafting what will surely be the definitive document on the career of a Hollywood legend.
