One day you’re writing a sitcom for Comedy Central USA, the next you’re cutting your own hair.
As a website dedicated to the Irish filmmaking community, there are likely many visitors to Film Ireland who categorise themselves as “Screenwriter” or “Aspiring Screenwriter”. Dublin Comedian Brian Cheatle puts himself firmly in the category of “Failed Screenwriter”.
Debuting as part of the 5th Annual Scene + Heard Festival of New Work at Smock Alley Theatre this February, Brian’s new standup special “Overnight Failure” focuses on his personal experiences where, after a lifetime of screw-ups, he suddenly finds himself middle-aged and struggling to maintain not only his career, but also his sanity.
One of up-and-coming faces of Irish comedy, Brian Cheatle also hosts “Retro Vision” a monthly movie-themed comedy night in Anseo, Camden Street, Dublin 2, where Ireland’s top comedians chat about their celluloid guilty pleasures.
