The Fingal Film Festival are opening a new media training centre for the north county of Dublin as part of the festival’s quest to nurture the talent of new emerging filmmakers in Ireland at grass roots level.

In conjunction with the City of Dublin Education and Training Board – a local training initiative, the festival aims to roll out this programme in April 2016, offering foundation QQ1 level 5 media training to residents of North & City Dublin. This course is free to suitable candidates who are unemployed and will not affect their welfare payments. .

The course will run for eleven months and is open to all applicants who meet the following criteria:

– Preference given to people from the North or City of Dublin region

– Preference given to those aged between 18-35 years of age but over 35 maybe considered

– Must complete interview process

– Must be unemployed

“This is a great opportunity for candidates to get an accredited qualification in Media,” says Liz Kenny, Course Coordinator. “It will be the first of its kind for residents of North Dublin and promises to deliver the best media training program with key industry people , collaborative film projects and a full in-depth understanding of the industry from concept to screen.”

The core modules provided are FETAC (QQI) accredited, level 5 and covering the following:
Media Analyses

TV & Film Production

Script Writing

Case Studies in Film & Documentary

Personal Effectiveness

Film & TV Camera work in Lighting & Editing

Work Experience

Problem Solving

The training programme is learner directed:

This new local training initiative will run twice yearly.
