The trailer for new short film Aonrú is now available online.

Described as a richly textured documentary essay on isolation, loss and change, Aonrú offers a unique exploration of Cape Clear Island, West Cork and the extinction of its indigenous fishing industry. Fusing archive footage and observational camera techniques, this portrait of an island facing uncertainty celebrates one of mankind’s oldest endeavours and questions its place in modern day rural Ireland.

Directed by Dominic de Vere, produced by Jason Gaffney with sound design by Danny Crowley (Hunger, Control) Aonrú is co funded by Bord Iascaigh Mhara and has been developed alongside Cork Screen Commission.

The film will be entering the Irish, UK and European festival circuit from February 2015.
