The Irish Hard of Hearing Association (IHHA) are set to release Hear Today, a series of five animated short films which aim to encourage hard of hearing people to be assertive and open about their hearing loss, as well as discourage misconceptions and stigmas about hearing loss. The animations feature voice overs from IHHA members as well as the Oscar-nominated actor Stephen Rea.

FIlmmakers and IHHA members Carla Maria Tighe and Aaron Corless collaborated with the IHHA and animators from the Institute of Design, Art and Technology (IADT) in Dun Laoghaire to create the series.

The films will be periodically shared online, they are also to be screened at the International Federation of Hard of Hearing People (IFHOH) Conference in Jerusalem in April 2014. The five films will be made available to watch and share over the coming weeks on www.heartodayfilms.com, with updates on Twitter, follow @heartodayfilms. They hope to create an online discussion about strategies for dealing with hearing loss and healthy hearing habits. The IHHA has also created a five-minute collection piece which will be submitted to film festivals for potential future screenings.
