Jameson Dublin International Film Festival

The Board of Jameson Dublin International Film Festival has announced the appointment of Gaby Smyth as Chairperson of the Festival Board. Gaby was elected unanimously from within the board, and succeeds Arthur Lappin, who is retiring having served on the board as a founding member since 2002, and as Chair since 2009.

Commenting on the announcement Gaby said:

“As a founding member and director of Jameson Dublin International Film Festival, I have had the good fortune to serve this board from the beginning, led successively by David McLoughlin, Michael Dwyer and Arthur Lappin; enlightened and inspiring chairpersons.  It is a very great honour – and no little challenge – to follow their footsteps in protecting and promoting the legacy of this great festival. I would like to acknowledge the tireless and selfless commitment of all our board members, along with the dedication and expertise of our wonderful senior executive team.  In Jameson, we have an informed and committed sponsor, whose support for the festival’s vision has been central to its success to date – and I greatly look forward to developing our shared endeavour, together with all our stakeholders, in promoting the Jameson Dublin International Festival in the years to come.”

Arthur Lappin added:

“In retiring from the Board of Jameson Dublin International Film Festival I am minded of the vision and the legacy of the late Michael Dwyer in his role as standard bearer and standard setter of this remarkably successful annual celebration of film.  I was very proud to have succeeded him as Chairman and believe that the organisation is well founded in every sense for a very bright future. Under the exceptional stewardship of Gráinne Humphreys and Jackie Ryan, the wise guidance of a wonderful Board of Directors and the steadfast support of our title sponsor – Jameson, I have total belief that the Festival will grow and prosper in the years ahead.
