Freshly Squeezed International Student Short Film Festival is now open for online submissions until Monday, 25th of February. The event is non-profit and is the first of its kind in Ireland. Over the course of two days in the Spring of 2013, it will be showcasing the work of film school students and recent film school graduates from around the world, drawing in a wide variety of both local and international talent.

The festival is dedicated to showcasing international short film, and in doing so, emphasising cultural diversity and giving insight into film education in different cultures. It is hoped the festival will introduce new talents to the industry worldwide. The festival aims to promote debate and feedback between amateur filmmakers and professionals in the industry, to conduct networking; and overall to encourage students to pursue greater achievements though a healthy competitive environment.

Last year, in its first edition, Freshly Squeezed was a great success, gathering 200 submissions, of which 34 were shortlisted in competition for 2 awards: the New Talent Award and the Audience Choice Award. The participation of renowned professionals in the Irish film industry who provided feedback and Q&A sessions was a highlight of the event. Both the audience and the film students can experience the wealth of knowledge while present at the festival, or follow the event online. Podcasts with Q&A and feedback sessions are available on the website for the curiosity and interest of all.

Students are asked to submit their films through the festival website www.freshlysqueezedfest.com/films by the 25th of February at 4PM GMT. Films must be a maximum of 15 minutes in duration to be eligible and ideally have English language subtitles, where applicable. However this is not mandatory at this first stage.
