Clara Kavanagh (The Girl) in Prodigal Son

Irish horror short Prodigal Son has been nominated for the prestigious Deadline Award to be presented at the 14th Landshuter KurzFilm Festival in Munich from 13th-18th March 2013. German film magazine Deadline sponsor the award for an outstanding Horror, Mystery, Fantasy or Thriller Short Film. The prize money is 1000 Euro.

Also in Germany, Prodigal Son was officially selected for Berlin’s 2013 “British Shorts” Film Festival, which this year has been expanded to include Irish entries. The film screens on Jan 12th 2013.

Further afield, the film was selected for the 9th Dam Short Film Festival in Nevada, USA. The film screens on Feb 6th 2013 as part of the International Stories programme.

Prodigal Son was written and directed by CJ Scuffins for Dublin production company, Story Factory. The film stars Ryan Andrews (Frankie, The Pool, Fair City) and Jill Sartini (The Blow-Ins). Ryan recently won a Best Actor award at New York’s Buffalo Screams Film Festival.
