‘Rip It Up & Start Again’ Selected for Palm Springs International ShortFest

The short film Rip It Up & Start Again is an official jury selection at the 21st Palm Springs International ShortFest (16 – 22 June). The festival screens over 300 short films each year from more than 50 countries. All first place winners in the Live Action, Animation and Best of the Fest categories automatically qualify for nomination consideration by the Academy of Motion Picture Arts and Sciences.

Rip It Up & Start Again concerns a quiet man’s pursuit to connect to his one true love by pen and paper. But of course, writing the perfect love letter is only half the battle. Writer/director Stephen Ryan explains, ” Our aim was to be contemporary but with a romanticized nod to the past.”

Rip It Up & Start Again stars Derek Tapley and was produced by Stephen and Richard Bolger, edited by Colin Campbell, cinematography by Penny Merelle Gray,  with music composed by Kevin Whyms.

Rip It Up & Start Again joins 5 other Irish shorts to feature at the festival: Gary Gill’s Tea With the Dead, Erin Mullally’s The Struggle of Libations, Colum Eastwood’s The Morrigan, Tom Sullivan’s Personal Development and Ruairi O’Brien’s Cutting Grass.
