After 20 years on the force, police detective Roger Murtaugh has come face-to-face with the most dangerous killing machine in Los Angeles… his new partner.

 

Christmas has come early to Dublin as the Jameson Cult Film Club is returning for an explosive double screening of the 1987 action comedy Lethal Weapon on Wednesday 20th and Thursday 21st May in a secret city centre location.

 

This special screening promises to transport the audience right into the heart of all the action. The venue will be completely transformed into scenes from the movie including Riggs’s trailer house and Murtaugh’s desk at LAPD homicide Department. These free events are more than just your typical screening, as characters from the movie, live theatre and special effects timed perfectly with on-screen action help to create an electric atmosphere throughout the screening.

Jameson Cult Film Club: ‘Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels’

Nick Moran attended an exclusive Jameson Cult Film Club screening of Guy Richie’s iconic crime comedy, Lock, Stock and Two Smoking Barrels at Dublin’s Tivoli Theatre on Monday 23rd March, as part of the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival. The actor participated in an in-depth Q&A about the movie with presenter Dave Fanning along with recreating the infamous poker game scene with look-alike actors, much to the delight of guests.

 

The interactive Jameson Cult Film Club screening is widely regarded as one of the most hotly anticipated events in the Jameson Dublin International Film Festival programme, and organisers did not disappoint. Dublin’s Tivoli Theatre was completely transformed into a series of sets from the movie including Timothy’s Boxing Gym and Eddy’s Apartment next to the gang hideout.

 

Iconic scenes such as Plank’s head going through the wall, Eddy leaving the boxing club after losing the card game and the end scene with Tom hanging over the bridge reaching for the antique guns were acted out by lookalike actors throughout the screening. During another live scene when Gloria opens fire with machine gun, the audience were treated to spectacular pyrotechnics display as ‘debris’ landed on their laps.

 

Commenting on the film’s cult status, Nick Moran said “I’m looking forward to my time at this year’s Jameson’s Dublin International Film Festival; it is an honour to represent this classic film.”

 

Following the screening, the party continued in true Jameson style with DJ Aidan Kelly on decks. Guests enjoying the Jameson Ginger and Limes at the venue included rugby player Mike McCarthy, international model Sam Homan, actors Adam Weafer, Carl Shaaban and Leigh Arnold along with presenters Dave Fanning and Lottie Ryan.

Just when you thought it was safe to go back to camp, the Jameson Cult Film Club returned to Dublin for a double screening of the 1981 horror classic Friday The 13th Part II this week (Wednesday 22nd and Thursday 23rd October)

 

Continuing on from previous successful Jameson Cult Film Club screenings of Fight Club, Predator, Jaws, and Intermission, organisers were challenged with transporting the audience right back to the errie surroundings of Packanack Lodge on the shores of Crystal Lake. Lucky ticket holders to this free event were not left disappointed.

 

Industries Hall on the grounds of the iconic RDS was completely transformed into a series of sets from the film. Guests entered the venue through the derelict Crystal Lake Campsite before arriving at Jason’s cabin in the woods; lookalike actors in character interacted with the crowd until guests were called to their seats. Throughout the screening, live theatre, props and staging created an electric atmosphere in the venue including Crazy Ralph terrifying the audience with the cinema house rules.
