Anne Marie Kelly’s short film will make its Canadian premiere on March 3rd as part of the Toronto Irish Film Festival.

Dublin singer, actor and psychotherapist Anne Marie Kelly is enjoying the success of her first independent short film Ma, for which she won Best Actor at Disappear Here Film Festival in Donegal, last September. It was shown in February 2019 as part of “The Female Eye” and will make its Canadian premiere on March 3rd as part of the Toronto Irish Film Festival.

Ma is an empathetic artistic response to a late night chat show interview, where the mother of a murdered young man told her story of having to sit through the trial of his murderer.  She thought that her seat was the worst seat upon which anyone could ever have to sit.  Then she saw the mother of the murderer and thought differently.  This film is a tribute to all of those who have been hurt by the choices made by another.

Featuring Anne Marie Kelly as Ma and Jamie McClean as the Son, the film is  directed by Anne Marie Kelly with Ciarán O’Donnell as Director of Photography and John Kelleher as Soundtrack Designer.
