A public screening and discussion of the documentary film, Resilience (dir. James Redford, 2016), will take part in the Strand Arts Centre Cinema in Belfast this Friday 12 October 2018 at 6 pm.

Resilience is a one-hour documentary that delves into the science of Adverse Childhood Experiences (ACEs) and the subsequent birth of a new movement to treat and prevent Toxic Stress.

The screening will be followed by brief responses by professionals working in psychotherapy and counselling, social work, physiotherapy, general medicine, and documentary filmmaking, after which there will be a facilitated discussion with the audience.

The event will focus on the long-term psychological, emotional, physical and social impact of childhood trauma on the adult.

The event forms part of a new interdisciplinary cross-border initiative on Mental Health and the Arts being developed by Ulster University Lecturers Dr Noreen Giffney, Dr Maggie Long and Dr Jolene Mairs Dyer.
