Beara Film Fest 2018 is to be held in Castletownbere, Co. Cork on 7th July @ 8 pm in the former St. Peter’s Church of Ireland.
Beara Film Fest is a short film festival curated by Castletownbere native Gerard O’ Leary whom himself has featured in many productions on stage and screen.
Beara Film Fest received a total of 78 submissions with 12 making the official selection.  The submission was free for both established and student directors from or living in Cork, who had filmed in Cork to enter.
On the night there will be no charge at the door but donation at the door in aid of Cancer Connect, this year’s festival’s chosen charity.
Best over all short for the festival (Best of the Fest award) will be chosen by the audience through a voting card process which they will receive upon entry along with their festival programme and a ticket for a chance to win one of many spot prizes.
Best Director and Best Art House will be awarded by a panel of Film Industry Professionals.
A surprise guest from the world of Irish Film will conduct the award ceremony on the night.
Beara Film Fest will host on the night the official screening of Miah, directed by Daniel Corcoran, for the people of Beara.  Miah was filmed on the Beara Peninsula in Feb 2016.
Castletownbere’s first ever Film Fest is  a strictly over 18s event due to some subject content not being suitable for younger viewers as laid down by the Irish Film Classification Office.  ID may be required at the door.
