Irish experimental feature film An American Wake recently wrapped its two day shoot.

The film follows Eric on his last day in Ireland as he prepares to emigrate to the United States. Cue several chance encounters, some friendly surprises and one girl desperate to keep him from leaving….

An American Wake was shot as part of an experiment to see if a full length 76 page feature film could feasibly be shot in 48 hours.

Beginning at 6am on Friday morning, principal photography wrapped at 5:18am on Sunday and marked a total shoot time of 47 hours and 18 minutes – the first time that an Irish film crew has managed to pull of such a feat.

Backed by Filmbase, and produced by Craig Moore, An American Wake was directed by Rian Mahood Gallagher and lensed by Conor Fleming. It stars Barry Kellaghan, Kellie Ni Dhuibhir, Simon O’Neill, Eoin Bartley, Vicky Goslin, and Hazel Gavigan.

The film was shot entirely on location in Bray, Co.Wicklow. It has now entered post-production.
