Short Irish sci-fi film Jar has wrapped on principal photography and has now entered post-production. The sci-fi drama, written by Wayne Doherty and Simon Murphy was successfully funded via a Fundit campaign. Directed by Doherty and produced by Murphy in association with Bold Puppy, filming took place in locations around Blanchardstown and Clondalkin such as Eurospar Hartstown and the Blanchardstown Neighbourhood Youth Project (N.Y.P.), with St. Philips Senior School in Mountview providing extras.
Jar was shot over 3 days in November with one pickup day in December. It will now enter post-production in January and will enter Irish and international film festivals.
Set between the nostalgic charm of childhood and the realism of a bleak suburban Dublin housing estate, the story follows the boys over the course of their Halloween mid-term as they attempt to escape their mundane realities and troubled home lives through comic books, monster movies and science fiction. While out fishing in a stream one day, they catch something that will change their world forever.
The cast includes first-time actors from Dance Agency Ireland Darragh Tobin, Dylan Bennett and Emma Meyer as well as Fíonna Hewitt-Twamley (Cardboard Gangsters, Red Rock).
