Every year since its inception, Dublin Comic Con has grown in fan base and exposure, and this year demand has been so large that it has moved venue to the Convention Centre Dublin, in Dublin’s vibrant and dynamic Docklands and will take place on the weekend of 8th & 9th August.
As in other years, Dublin Comic Con will carry on its tradition of having some of the best in authentic and replica on-screen props and costumes from some of your favourite films and TV shows this side of Europe, and of course they’ll have some well-known characters from much-loved shows and movies taking a stroll or two around and saying hi!
Also returning will be the interactive scenes for fans to immerse themselves in; two years ago saw the venue fill with screams of delight and excitement coming from the Alien set, and today it’s still being talked about as a high point among fans.
The guest line-up for Dublin Comic Con is stellar, and one of the main attractions at the convention for both hardcore and casual fans of comics and cult TV shows. With a list like this, it’s not difficult to see why VIP tickets for both days have sold out already. This year, among others to be announced, we have from the world of television and cinema…
Michael Rooker, aka Merle, redneck brother of Daryl Dixon in The Walking Dead, and Yondu Udonta in the epic box office-smash movie Guardians Of The Galaxy.
Gates McFadden needs no introduction to Trekkies, but to the rest of us mere mortals she plays Dr Beverly Crusher on Star Trek: the Next Generation
Billy West; his face may have you drawing a blank but his voice will ring a Futurama intro theme bell – he gives life to Fry, Zoidberg and Professor Farnsworth in every episode!
Not to be outdone, the comic worlds are offering up some of their finest talent in art and story work, with the likes of:
David Lloyd (V For Vendetta, Hulk, Doctor Who)
Stephen Mooney (IDW’s Angel, A-Team)
Simon Furman (Transformers, Dr. Who, X-Men, Terminator)
Ruth Redmond (Marvel, Deadpool, Storm and more)
Michael Carroll (2000AD, Jennifer Blood, New Heroes /Quantum Prophecy)
