Here Paris Farren reviews Ant-Man

I had never heard of Ant Man until I went to see this film and I did not expect too much though I have really liked most of the Marvel films that have come out in the last few years. It tells the story of Scott Lang, played by the comedy actor Paul Rudd, who is an ex-convict trying to go straight and reconnect with his young daughter. This does not prove easy as he cannot hold a job because of his past as a professional burglar. His friend, played by Michael Pena, convinces him that he has a job that is a sure thing. Desperate, he takes it on only to find out it is part of a plot by Hank Pym, the original Ant Man (Michael Douglas) to get his help to take on his role in order to make sure a corporation does not copy his work and create tiny soldiers that could cause all sorts of mayhem.

The film is really quiet compared to the loud and busy Avengers sequel and all the better for it I think. It is a heist movie really but is also very funny. After some awkward scenes at the beginning it gets better. There are some cool special effects and good characters. It was a really fun film that is silly in the best possible way. I even liked some of the 3D. Look out for a cool guest appearance from another Marvel film character.

I recommend this film to anyone who likes superhero movies and even those that don’t.
