‘It is a great opportunity for young people to try out different aspects of filmmaking, meet new people, have fun and learn all about working in a team. With funding from County Council and SECAD the low cost makes it accessible to everyone’ said Mary Mc Grath, Cork Young Filmmakers Coordinator, ‘young people are guided through the film making process, helping them to develop a range of transferable skills leading to the creation of films. Participants develop confidence, learn new skills, develop and produce short films. For many of the participants it is also about creating pathways into college, university and the film industry. Finally we are aware of the huge interest in filmmaking amongst young people and are delighted that this programme has expanded into Cork County as a whole, with venues this year in Midleton and Mallow’.
