Irish short film Follies of Youth has won its first award at the 48th WorldFest-Houston International Film Festival in Texas USA. The festival runs ten competitions for independent films. Within the film category short comedy original follies of youth was awarded a platinum Remi award. The Remi award being named after Fredricic Remington a western artist known for his paintings and sculptures of cowboy life in 19th century Texas.
The film recently had its first Irish screening on May 20th at this years Fastnet short film festival in Schull county cork. The film has also been selected for the Cayman Islands international film festival, where it will screen as part of a program of short films from Europe on June 20th.
The film is directed by Melina Curi and written by Aising Corristine with Alex Whitmer. It was produced by Kevin Fisher for Dynamic Entertainment. Cainneach Mac Eoin provided cinematography, Kevin Corry and Dermot Grace edited the film.
The film’s cast includes Dorothy Cotter, Kevin Fisher, Mark Schrier with film debut performances from Aoife Hamilton, Amy Higgins and Clodagh Rolland.
