The National Film School Lecture Series [in association with Bord Scannán na hÉireann / The Irish Film Board] present Des Whelan.
Des is one of the most highly-respected camera operators in the world, working on every genre of film from Captain America: The First Avenger (2011) to Zidane: A 21st Century Portrait (2006). His extensive credits include features with Tim Burton: Big Eyes (2014); Dark Shadows (2012); Sweeney Todd: The Demon Barber of Fleet Street (2007); and Charlie and the Chocolate Factory (2003); and Jim Sheridan: In the Name of the Father (1993), The Field (1990); and My Left Foot (1989). Other recent work includes: Fury (2014); Thor: The Dark World (2013); Prince of Persia (2010); The Wolfman (2010); and Sherlock Holmes (2009).
