Animator Bill Plympton will deliver a masterclass at the Dun Laoghaire Institute of Art, Design and Technology (IADT) campus on the 17 October at 2.30pm as part of The National Film School Lecture series. The National Film School Lecture series at IADT is run in association with Bord Scannán na hÉireann / The Irish Film Board.
Bill Plympton is visiting Ireland as the “Special Guest Animator” at Dublin Animation Film Festival which takes place on the 17 and 18 October 2014 at both the IADT campus and the Pavilion Theatre, Dún Laoghaire.
Bill Plympton has worked for 15 years as an illustrator, cartoonist and designer for major US publications. He received an Academy Award® nomination (Best Animated Short) for his second film, Your Face (1987). In 2005, he received a second Oscar® nomination for his short, Guard Dog.
Speaking about Mr Plympton’s masterclass at the National Film School (NFS), Donald Taylor Black, Head of Department Film and Media at IADT and Creative Director of the NFS had this to say: “We’re absolutely delighted that Bill Plympton is joining the distinguished list of world-class animators that have featured in the NFS Lecture series over the last decade. As part of the Dublin Animation Film Festival the Irish premiere of Plympton’s feature film Cheatin’ will be screened at the Pavilion Theatre, Dún Laoghaire on the 18 October and will be followed by a Q & A session with Mr Plympton. Festival updates will be available on www.
