Deck the halls, rock around the Christmas tree and celebrate the festive season the good old fashioned way with Film Fatale.
On Saturday 7 December, Film Fatale will celebrate Christmas in vintage style with a screening of the world’s most beloved classic Christmas movie, It’s a Wonderful Life, followed by a night of vintage fashion, retro music, Christmas cocktails and good old-fashioned fun, in The Sugar Club, Dublin.
Get in the festive mood by dressing up your most dashing suit or glittering vintage Christmas ensemble for a screening of It’s a wonderful life. Then celebrate by swing-dancing to the jazz-tastic Jaime Nanci and The Blue Boys playing your Film Fatale favourites and modern songs with a vintage twist, and jitterbug to DJs The Andrews Sisters’ Brothers favourite dancefloor fillers from the 1920s to the 70s. Drink bespoke vintage cocktails, join in the conga line or simply chill out in The Christmas cabin (The Sugar Club’s newly decorated side bar).
Capra’s classic bittersweet comedy/drama Christmas classic has the power to melt the coldest heart. James Stewart stars as George Bailey the eternally-in-debt guiding force of a bank in the typical American small town of Bedford Falls. Bailey considers himself a failure, never having left his small town despite his yearning to see the world and sacrificed his personal ambitions for the sake of his family and the local community, settling down to marry his childhood sweetheart, Mary (Donna Reed), and raise a family.
On Christmas Eve, 1946, a huge amount of money goes missing from the savings and loans company that he works for, he panics and finds himself preparing to commit suicide. However, he is shown the error of this idea by Clarence (Henry Travers), an angel who has been sent to Earth in order to earn his wings.
