Additional premieres and guests confirmed for 2013 SUBTITLE European Film Festival



SUBTITLE (Kilkenny, 25th November – 1st December 2013)


SUBTITLE, Ireland’s newest film festival, have  announced the Irish premieres of two new Russian films at the Festival. Electric crime drama The Major, will open the Festival on 25th November, whilst epic disaster movie Metro will close the programme of screenings on 1st December. Both films are screening as part of the RESERGENT RUSSIA season at the Festival, a unique and exciting look at modern Russian cinema.


Norwegian actor Aksel Hennie, star of crossover hit Jo Nesbø’s Headhunters, has also been confirmed to attend the Festival in November, joining acclaimed Spanish actor Antonio de la Torre, whose films Cousinhood and Fat People will screen at the Festival; Russian star of the forthcoming Vampire Academy Danila Kozlovsky, whose films Soulless and We Are From the Future will screen; rising star from the Netherlands Hannah Hoekstra will also attend as well prominent Danish actor Nikolaj Lie Kaas (The Killing), whose film A Funny Man features in the programme.


Featuring popular films from European countries such as Sweden, Finland, Denmark, Norway, Belgium, Netherlands, Spain, France, Austria, Hungary, Poland, Romania and Bosnia, SUBTITLE offers a unique opportunity to catch some of the most popular European films that can’t be found at the multiplex, bringing together a feast of films that will make you see cinema in a whole new way.


Festival venues include The Set at Langton’s, the intimate Cleere’s and the much-loved Watergate Theatre, as well as the Cinemobile, which will roll into town for the weekend.
