Children’s film ‘Eliot & Me’ heading to China

Eliot & Me has been selected to screen at the 12th China International Children’s Film Festival in September.

The China International Children’s Film Festival (CICFF) is an international children’ s film event held every two years, organized by the China Children’s Film Association. This year the festival takes place in Siping City, Jilin Province from 10-14 September. Eliot & Me is the only English language film selected for the competition.

Director Fintan Connolly, producer Fiona Bergin and actress Ella Connolly will attend the festival. “We never thought when we were making this film that it would travel all around the world,” said director Connolly. “It’s the gift that keeps on giving.” Eliot & Me has screened in Germany, Holland, Belgium, Finland, Greece, Romania and the US.

The family film tells the story of ten year-old Lucy who is struggling to come to terms with her parents’ separation. She rescues a dog, Eliot, from the local dog shelter. It is love at first sight and her life starts to improve. But tragedy strikes when Eliot goes missing and Lucy must undertake a dangerous journey to find him.

Connolly (Flick) directs his daughter Ella Connolly (Wake Wood), IFTA Best Actress winner Renée Weldon (Trouble With Sex) and David Wilmot (The Guard). Bergin produces it for Fubar Films with backing from the Irish Film Board and RTÉ. Derry O’Brien of Network Ireland is handling sales.
