The Section of Creative Media in the Dundalk Institute of Technology returns with its end of year showcase, Fís 2013.Featuring completely new and original work ranging from film to interactive installations and games, Fís 2013 examines a wide range of ideas reflecting on the nature of art, technology & media forms.

Visitors can explore exciting new works on the role of science and technology in our lives in films such as Server and Indelible, while other films such as Water, Water andEimear consider key social, national and cultural issues. Like Eimear, a film exploring women and the Troubles, the interactive documentary On the Ropes, is of local interest, and follows two young boxers from the Clann Naofa club in Dundalk. There are also many pieces aimed at teenagers, as well as TV pilots, games (Astraeus will be available to buy from July) and apps. Works of interest to children include educational interactive pieces Alphaland, Momo’s Magic Storybook and Pal, (the latter is specifically aimed at autistic children).

The work on show will highlight the relevant and diverse skills that students of creative media & film acquire over the course of their studies at DKIT. The students showcasing work are graduating from 4 main programmes: the BA/BA (Hons) in Communications in Creative Multimedia & the BA/ BA (Hons) in Video and Film Production.

Fís 2013 is is open to all, and will be launched at 6 p.m. in the Carroll’s Building on Wednesday 5th June.
