17th Fresh Film Festival Opens Today

Limerick’s Fresh Film Festival, Ireland’s largest young person’s film festival, is celebrating its 17th Year. Fresh exists to provide a platform for young filmmakers to display their work and meet their peers, from Ireland and abroad. 2013 saw an unprecedented amount of entries and over 450 films will be screened at this year’s festival.

The competition to find Ireland’s young filmmaker of year takes place this month in the Odeon Cinema, Limerick. The Junior Finals take place on the 20th, followed by the Senior Finals on the 21st. Both competitions are fierce and the level of talent on display is staggering.

Under the creative strand of Ireland’s EU Presidency Fresh are delighted to welcome our partner organisations from around Europe who will be taking a part in a unique event designed to inspire cross border and international collaboration through the use of the internet culminating in the Reel Exchange forum on Saturday in Mary Immaculate College.  This forum is open to anyone working with young people in film and is a fantastic opportunity to develop relationships with our European counterparts.

Our International theme continues with a selection of award-winning short films from across Europe on Friday in the Lime Tree Theatre. The screening is free to attend.
