MEDIA DEVELOPMENT MASTERCLASS

9.30am-1.45pm
Thursday March 21st
European Commission Office, 18 Dawson Street, Dublin 2.

To assist Producers in preparing their applications for the forthcoming MEDIA Development Deadline of April 12th, MEDIA Desk Ireland and MEDIA Antenna Galway are co-ordinating a Development Masterclass in Dublin on March 21st next.

The Masterclass will take place from 9.30-1.45pm on Thursday March 21st in the European Commission Office, 18 Dawson Street, Dublin 2.

Following a presentation of the MEDIA Development support scheme by the MEDIA Desk and Antenna, Emmanuel Oberg from ID2 Films in France will focus on the supplemental documents required for the MEDIA Development Application – Treatment, synopsis and author’s notes of intent etc. Emmanuel will use his expertise on the design of selling documents that work, and how to differentiate between presentation documents (used to raise development/production finance) and writing documents (used to actually develop the project with a writer).

Emmanuel Oberg has more than twenty years of experience in the Film Industry. He has worked as Senior Development Executive at the UK Film Council and has been involved as a script consultant with many training organisations like ACE, Arista, Moonstone and Screen Training Ireland. He has worked as a scriptwriting expert for the European Commission’s MEDIA programme and has also designed an advanced development workshop for producers, development executives and writers. Currently, Emmanuel is focusing on his writing. He is working primarily on Beast Quest, a family film adapted from Adam Blade’s popular series of children fantasy books, for Working Title Films (Universal Studios), and on Number9dream, a Yakusa thriller adapted from the novel by David Mitchell, for Film 4 with Asif Kapadia (The Warrior, Senna) attached to direct.

To register for this event please e-mail info1@mediadesk.ie by Friday 15th March.

This Masterclass is particularly timely as the April 12th Deadline may be the final opportunity for Producers to apply for MEDIA Development funding this year. Any further deadlines will be issued under the new Creative Europe Programme (proposed for the 2014-2020 period) which has yet to be agreed.
