Calling all young filmmakers

The Fastnet Short Film Festival is inviting all second level students to collect stories of emigration from their Grandparents Generation and to record their chosen story on film. All you need is a smart phone or hand held camera. The resultant footage should be reduced to a film of no more than 5 minutes. All suitable films will be screened at the festival which will run from Wednesday 22nd to Sunday 26th of May 2013, at the Tented Fringe in the ‘Gathering Tent’. A prize will be awarded for the winning film. Please send a copy of your film on DVD before Sunday 5th of May 2013 to Hilary McCarthy, Derreennatra, Schull, Co Cork. Please include your contact details. If you would like your film returned please include a stamped addressed envelope.

The Short Film Festival without a Cinema invites filmmakers to explore alternatives to Cinema through screenings, Q&As, Premieres, Workshops and Discussions. We have cabled the town of Schull showing films in every corner of the village from a horsebox, 6 large army tents, pubs, restaurants, parish hall etc. thus ‘Our Village is Our Screen’.
