One of the hits of the recent IFI French Film Festival, award-winning French film You Will Be My Son (Tu seras mon fils) is set for an exclusive cinema release at the IFI from the 14th December. You Will Be My Son is a love-letter to the joys of wine so the IFI and independent distributor Swipe Films have teamed up with Findlater Wine &Spirits Group to offer You Will Be My Son ticket-holders a free glass of Château Méaume wine during the film’s opening weekend (Fri Dec 14h – Sun Dec 16th).
Set in the sumptuous surroundings of a famous Chateau and vineyard in St Emilion, the film captures the tradition, terroir and romance of French wine country. It stars Niels Arestrup (fresh from the hits A Prophet and War Horse)as a famous wine-maker who plots to disown his own son and pass the estate to his favoured successor, with some disastrous consequences. The film is directed by the legendaryGilles Legrand, who produced Jean Pierre Jeunet’sMicMacs and Amelie, and was a hit when it was released in France earlier this year, taking almost one million admissions there.
Frank Mannion, of Swipe Films, says: “You Will Be My Son is being released the same week as the cinematic juggernaut that is The Hobbit. We knew we had to come up with a unique selling point for the film. So, in these cash-strapped times, it seems appropriate to offer cinema–goersan early Christmas present of a free glass of vintage wine on the opening weekend of the release. We hope that it will turn it intoa must-see date movie and tempt audiences to see the film, while enjoying a free glass of vintage wine.”
If a free glass of vintage wine is not enough to tempt cinema-goers to see the film, Findlaters are also offering the chance to win a case of Château Méaume wine. All you have to do is to send your contact details to firstname.lastname@example.org, prior to December 22, 2012.
Tickets are available from the IFI Box Office on 01 679 3477 or online at www.ifi.ie. This film and promotion is strictly over-18.
