Opry an Iúir – new ILBF country music series on TG4
Opry an Iúir is a new Irish Language Broadcast Fund country music series recorded in front of a live audience. Produced by Big Mountain Productions and presented by Marc Roberts and Lynette Fay it airs on Wednesdays at 10.30pm on TG4.
Ireland’s very own Grand Ole Opry – the old Town Hall in Newry – opens its doors for a unique series of hour long concerts, each with a different star of country music: Hugo Duncan, Mike Denver, Sandy Kelly, Nathan Carter, Dominic Kirwan and Mick Flavin.
All are seasoned campaigners and have been recording, touring and gathering fans at home and abroad for many years. We’ll find out just how many years, and why they keep at it. The fans too, get their say. Each artiste is profiled as we look back on where they’re from, what they did as they were growing up and what they’re musical influences were.
There will also be a special edition of Opry an Iúir at Christmas featuring Philomena Begley who is celebrating 50 years in show business this year. She will be joined by her son Aidan and special guests including Daniel O’Donnell.
Opry an Iúir, Wednesdays at 10.30 pm on TG4 (repeated Saturdays at 10.10pm)
