Taylorfest Film Festival Carlow 21-23 Sept

The inaugural TAYLORFEST (21-23rd Sept), which celebrates the life and work of Carlow-born,Hollywood director, William Desmond Taylor, kicks off tomorrow.

 

Taylor, who was born in Carlow 140 years ago this year, directed 59 movies inHollywoodbefore 1922; making him not only a pioneer of the film industry butIreland’s most prolific film maker.

 

A series of art events influenced by silent cinema and the spirit of the 1920s  make up Taylorfest, and culminate in the screenings of two of Taylor’s extremely rare feature films. The films, “Soul of Youth” (1920) and “Huckleberry Finn” (1920) will be uniquely accompanied by live music and, significantly, and are both Irish Premieres.
