Yet again Filmbase will throw open its doors late on Culture Night (Fri, 21st Sept) offering you a chance to ‘Get into Film’ with workshops and short film screenings.

Filmbase will be offering a number of special workshops including an intro to filmmaking using the popular Canon DSLR camera with Aidan Aidan (The Knife, Joyrider). The footage shot during this session will be edited later on in our editing workshop using Apple’s editing software Final Cut Pro X.

As in previous years, the Culture Night celebrations at Filmbase will include screenings of a whole host of award-winning short films.  This includes a shorts programme screening in our gallery space throughout the night which is suitable for all ages as well as a late night short film screening of recently completed Irish short films.  Films to be screened during the night include the Oscar nominated Pentecost, The Boy in the Bubble, Billy and Chuck and more.  Our late night shorts screening will include the following fantastic selection of films: Shimmy Marcus’ Rhinos, Andrew Legge’s The Girl with the Mechanical Maiden, Ged Murray’s Small Time and Connor Finnegan’s animated short Fear of Flying.

Throughout the night you can also get your hands on a copy of Film Ireland magazine which this year celebrates 25 years of publication.

All these events are free but booking is required for the workshops and late night screening so contact Filmbase reception now to secure your place – info@filmbase.ie or call 01 679 6716 (dial 0 for reception).

Full details on all of the events taking place at Filmbase this Culture Night can be found at www.filmbase.ie/culturenight.
