‘Jump’ selected for Toronto International Film Festival

Jump has been selected for the Toronto International Film Festival (TIFF) which runs from 6-16 September. Toronto is on a par with other premier world film festivals such as Cannes, Venice and Berlin, has a highly competitive selection process and is considered a great launch pad for the North American market.

Jump has been selected as part of the Contemporary World Cinema programme at Toronto, which focuses on compelling stories with global perspectives.

The film follows four twenty-something’s whose lives collide one fateful New Year’s Eve amidst the ancient walls of Derry, Northern Ireland in a night of fast talk, accidents and intrigue. Crime boss daughter Greta is rescued from suicide by drifter Pearse who’s on a mission to avenge his brother’s mysterious death. Johnny, a small time crook and Marie, a frustrated shop assistant are both looking for a fresh start. As the clock ticks down to midnight and the night’s events fall into place, Jump weaves an existential portrait of our character’s lives as their hopes, fears and secrets are revealed.

Jump boasts an ensemble cast of local actors including stars Martin McCann (Killing Bono, Whole Lotta Sole), Richard Dormer (Good Vibrations), Ciaran McMenamin (Saving the Titanic), Charlene McKenna, Lalor Ruddy and Valene Kane. Jump is directed by Kieron J Walsh and produced by Brendan J Byrne, of production company Hotshot Films, alongside co-producing partner Katie Holly of Blinder Films.

Jump received funding from Northern Ireland Screen supported by Invest NI and part funded by the European Regional Development Fund.
