Clones Film Festival – Ireland’s Biggest Little Film Festival – is gearing up to once again offer an action-packed programme featuring new Irish & international cinema releases, interviews, documentaries, short film competitions, children’s films and live music festival club over the October bank holiday weekend (25-28 October 2012). As ever, the festival will take place in a specially constructed cinema in the Lennard Arms Hotel as well as Clones Courthouse and in the Cinemobile on the Diamond.
Clones Film Festival, now in its 11th year, features an eclectic mix of screenings and events each year.
Geraldine Zechner, one of the festival’s organisers, is proud of its success in ‘attracting talented and interested filmmakers to Clones’. She goes on to say that ‘we’ve built up a really strong network of young, up-and-coming, independent filmmakers doing very exciting things’.
The festival culminates in ‘The Francies’ awards ceremony, which is ‘our award ceremony on the Sunday night,’ explains Geraldine. ‘The Francies are named in honour of our icon Francie Brady from “The Butcher Boy”.’
