Short Film ‘No Comment’ Shot In North Dublin Finishes Production
Having now completed post-production on No Comment, Spider Bite Productions have now begun to submit the short film to film festivals on both the national and international circuits. Already it is due to be shown at the Underground Cinema based at the Kingston Hotel, Dun Laoghaire on June 28th.
Shot on location in Skerries and Balbriggan, north Dublin, No Comment tells the story of a young woman in the midst of great personal upheaval. Finding herself at a crossroads, she makes a drastic decision in order to help her move on – and a face from her past may be the only means by which to do so. But how far is she willing to go?
The writer/director debut of Gerard Shannon, No Comment stars Layla O’Sullivan, Danny Gleeson, Patrick Molloy, with Patrick Murphy and the voice of Sara Magee.
Shannon co-produces along with Laura Cullen and Damien Dunne. Cullen also functioned as the short’s script editor and casting supervisor. Dunne was the director of photography and Stephen O’Farrell was the first assistant director. Sound recording was by Sibéal Eléna Davitt and Sean JP Markey. Declan Lynch was the editor with Sound mixing by Niall O’Connell and Wes Tuite. Music was composed by Eric Browne, one half of the Cork-based rock duo, ‘Root’.
Of finally reaching completion of the short film, Shannon had this to say, “It’s been a long road since the initial draft I wrote in August 2009 to the crew finally completing the short film. But it’s a testament to the strength and dedication of the actors and crew that we now have a product we can all be proud of. Based on the initial reaction, the crew are very excited to finally be taking it around to all the festivals” In its script form, No Comment was previously shortlisted for a Best Short Screenplay award at the Waterford Film Festival.
