Magic Lantern Film Society: Viva Maria

This coming Thursday, 17th May Magic Lantern Film Society will be
tantalising and teasing you with an intriguing and delectable Italian
classic Viva Maria. The screening will take place at 7.30 pm at the
Nerve Centre in Magazine Street and admission is £4

Maria Fitzgerald O’Malley (Brigitte Bardot) is the daughter of an
Irish political dissident who has travelled to Latin America with her
father to take part in an anarchist political uprising. When her
father was killed, Maria left to her own devices, where she became
friends with one of the performers of the circus, also named Maria.
She decided to stay with the circus. On her debut as a singer, she
accidently invented strip-tease that made the circus famous. This
satire of political revolutions is visually spectacular, pairing
France’s two most popular stars: Brigitte Bardot and Jeanne Moreau.

We would also like to remind people that there are still a range of
attractive and good value memberships which are available and valid
until the end of 2012. For more information on this, and all our
screening and membership please visit or website at, become our friend on facebook, or pick up
a copy of the current programme at the Nerve Centre.
