As a broadcasting event to celebrate Seachtain na Gaeilge, production company, ROSG is presenting their latest series, Scéal na Gaeilge (The story of Irish).

Scéal na Gaeilge is a 2 part documentary series which traces the journey of the Irish language from earliest times to the present day.

Through a mixture of animation, green screen and location filming, this series reveals the history of the Irish language by shining a humourous light on the historical and mythological stories that are associated with it.

Light in tone, Scéal na Gaeilge is presented and written by Alan Titley, directed by Diarmuid Goggins and produced by Ciarán Ó Cofaigh for ROSG.

Ciarán Ó Cofaigh, the producer of Scéal na Gaeilge, says:

‘With Scéal na Gaeilge we have attempted to do something new with the standard historical documentary series. By presenting this series in a fast paced, fun and irreverent style, I hope that we can attract those who have an interest in the language as well as those who don’t. In my opinion the Irish Language belongs to us all, and the history of the Irish Language is the history of Ireland.’

Everything you wanted to know about the Irish language but were afraid to ask, Scéal na Gaeilge will take you on a fun, energetic and informative journey along the cultural path of our nation.

ROSG is the Conamara based company behind such award winning productions such as Cré na Cille (Graveyard Clay) and Na Cloigne (The Heads).  Scéal na Gaeilge was funded by TG4, The BAI and Foras na Gaeilge Scéal na Gaeilge will be broadcast on TG4 on the 17th March at 20:30 with the second programme airing at 20:30 on the 19th March 2012.

Mar cheiliúradh ar Seachtain na Gaeilge, tabharfar Scéal na Gaeilge, an tsraith is déanaí ón gcomhlacht léiriúchán ROSG, chuig an scáileán.

Dhá chlár faisnéise is ea Scéal na Gaeilge a leanann aistear na teanga ó thús ama go dtí an lá atá inniu ann.

Tríd meascán míreanna beochan, cúlraí scáthlán glas agus taifeadadh ag láithreacha stairiúla, nochtann an tsraith seo stair na Gaeilge le radharc spraíúil ar na scéalta stairiúla agus miotasacha a bhaineann léi.

Is clár úr agus bríomhar é Scéal na Gaeilge atá scríofa agus curtha i láthair ag Alan Titley, stiúrtha ag Diarmuid Goggins agus léirithe ag Ciarán Ó Cofaigh do ROSG.

Deir léiritheoir Scéal na Gaeilge, Ciarán Ó Cofaigh:

“Le Scéal na Gaeilge, rinne muid iarracht rud éigin nua a dhéanamh leis an ghnáth sraith faisnéise stairiúil. Tríd an tsraith a chur i láthair ar bhonn fuinniúil, spraíúil agus maigiúil, tá muid ag súil go meallfaidh sé an té a bhfuil spéis acu sa teanga, chomh maith leis an té nach bhfuil.

I mo thuairim, baineann an Ghaeilge le chuile dhuine, agus is ionann stair na hÉireann agus stair na Gaeilge.”

Tabharfaidh Scéal na Gaeilge ar aistear spraíúil, fuinniúil, oideachasúil thú, agus muid ar thuras tríd oidhreacht cultúrtha na hÉireann.

Is iad ROSG, atá lonnaithe i gConamara, an comhlacht a thug na léiriúcháin iomráitigh Cré na Cille agus Na Cloigne dúinn.

Craolfar Scéal na Gaeilge ar TG4 ar an 17ú Márta ag 20:30 GMT / 15:30 EST leis an dara chlár ag craoladh ag 20:30 GMT / 15:30 EST ar an 19ú Márta 2012.

Scéal na Gaeilge maoinithe ag TG4, An BAI agus Foras na Gaeilge.
