To celebrate The Shore’s Oscar® win at the 84th Academy Awards®, the Screen Cinema have announced Love Irish Cinema, a feature-length screening of selected Oscar®-nominated and Oscar-winning Irish short films.

Irish short films have had six Oscar® nominations and one win in the past four years alone. With special thanks to specialist distributors of Irish Short films, Network Ireland Television and the Irish Film Board, the Screen is giving audiences the opportunity to view a selection of the best Oscar®-nominated shorts as they deserve to be seen — on the big screen.

Highlights include this years Oscar winner, The Shore by writer-director Terry George (Hotel Rwanda, In The Name of The Father), as well as Penetcost by writer-director Peter McDonald (star of I Went Down and When Brendan Met Trudy), which was also nominated at this year’s Oscars. Martin McDonagh’s Oscar winner Six Shooter will be shown, as well as director Juanita Wilson’s remarkable The Door and audience favourite Granny O’Grimm’s Sleeping Beauty by writer-director team Kathleen O’Rourke and Nicky Phelan.

The event takes place at Screen Cinema on March 14th to celebrate Irish Cinema.
