Kildare County Council Arts Service, , acting on behalf of a number of
primary and secondary schools in Co Kildare, invite applications from
Artists working in various art forms to apply for Per Cent for Art
commissions, associated with recent capital programmes for the
Department for Education and Skills.
Please see http://www.kildare.ie/
Commissions awarded may include Artists in Residence programmes
(including provision of artist’s workspace within the school),
commissioning of artwork (temporary and permanent) across art forms and
may include collaborative work practice. Applications that consider the
physical school environment (the buildings and grounds, indoor and
outdoor) as well as applications that directly engage the school
community are welcome
Artists in all art form disciplines are invited to submit a letter
outlining their interest and experience in the commissioning process,
with CV and samples of work that may be relevant to work in a school
environment. Artists should also indicate the preferred artform(s) that
they wish to be considered for as outlined on the mandatory cover sheet
(available to download from the Arts Service website).
A selection panel in each school will shortlist a number of artists to
develop detailed proposals. Depending on the nature of the proposal,
artists may be required to attend a site visit or attend for interview.
Artists who are shortlisted for Stage 2 for a school will receive an
artists fee to prepare a submission. Artists may be shortlisted for
consideration by more than one school.
Short listing for stage two will take place over the Spring school
term, according to individual schools schedules.
The budget for individual commissions for each school ranges from
€20,000 to €63,000. However, the commissioning budget may be
divided, to allow for more than one arts opportunity within a school.
Artists should submit their letter of interest, CV and samples of work
by 5pm, Thursday 19th January 2012 at 12 noon
