(Barry McGovern as Ceannfort a Sé)
Na Cloigne, which translates as ‘The Heads’ is set to re-air on TG4 starting this Sunday, 21st of August at 10:30 pm.
The three-part supernatural thriller, produced by ROSG, beat off stiff competition earlier this year to take Best Drama Series at the Celtic Media Festival. It also received six IFTA (Irish Film and Television Academy) Award nominations taking with it the award for Best Original Score (Ray Harman) and also taking Best Drama Series and Best Actor at the Oireachtas Communication Awards.
Directed by Robert Quinn and produced by Ciarán Ó Cofaigh for ROSG, a Conamara based film and television production company.
The Conamara village of Cloigeann comes to a standstill when the naked and decapitated bodies of two young women are found in the nearby woods. Local artist Nuala and her adulterous boyfriend Seán find themselves at the heart of the brutal murder investigation as jealousy, lust and insecurity drives their relationship to breaking point.
Tortured by visions of dark, dangerous figures, Seán struggles to keep a grip on reality and on his fractured relationship with Nuala. While the villagers and the Gardaí question who could commit such a horrific act, mysterious Superintendent Ó Sé calls on his supernatural intuition and gets one step closer to discovering the truth.
Did the young female victims fall prey to a merciless predator, was the murderer seeking a terrible revenge or could there be paranormal forces at play?
