DARE2BDRINKAWARE.ie Winners Announced

An online, interactive comic and a pseudo-documentary about a girls’ night out were amongst the winning entries at the fourth annual DARE2BDRINKAWARE.ie awards ceremony, held in Dublin last week.

DARE2BDRINKAWARE.ie, now in its fourth year, is a competition for film and multimedia students, aimed at highlighting young people’s attitudes to alcohol. The competition is sponsored by drinkaware.ie and organised by the Digital Hub Development Agency.

The winners in competition were announced at the awards ceremony, where Irish film director Juanita Wilson delivered the keynote address. In total, six prizes were awarded:

– Best Film: ‘Babes in Bits’ produced by ‘Bibs Productions’ from IT Tallaght.
– Best Film – Runner-Up: ‘The Conversation’, produced by ‘Delay No More Productions’, also from IT Tallaght.
– Best Multimedia Project: ‘drinkaware comic’ produced by T.J Fogarty and Roy Duggan from Limerick Institute of Technology.
– Best Multimedia Project – Runner-Up: ‘Do You Know?’ produced by Catharina Demmel and Sophie Douala from Dublin Institute of Technology.
– Public Vote – Best Film: ‘Babes in Bits’ produced by ‘Bibs Productions’ from IT Tallaght.
– Public Vote – Best Multimedia Project: ‘drinkaware comic’ produced by T.J Fogarty and Roy Duggan from Limerick Institute of Technology.

Each category winner won €1,000, with the runners up in ‘Best Film’ and ‘Best Multimedia Project’ winning €500.
