Greene on the Screen Season

The IFI will be running part 1 of their Graham Greene season from 2–23 January. Greene, who passed away 20 years ago was a screenwriter, a film critic, a letter-writer on matters cinematic as well as being a film actor.

This season celebrates ventures into Greeneland; Richard Attenborough features in John Boulting’s Brighton Rock; The Heart of the Matter was one of Greene’s most popular novels; Across the Bridge is an adaptation providing backstory to Greene’s story; Went the Day Well? adds complexity to the British propaganda film; and The Third Man – which began as an idea on the back of an envelope but went on to become one of the classics of world cinema.

Part 2 of the Greene on the Screen season will take place in February, and features Rowan Joffe’s new adaptation of Brighton Rock, the third Greene remake in a decade.
