Shebeen Flick will close its 2010 programme with a charity screening of documentary Clown Around Lesotho by Irish director Mike Casey at 7.30pm on Wednesday 1st December in commemoration of World AIDS Day.
The documentary follows the Irish Chapter of Clowns Without Borders to Lesotho, one of the poorest countries in the World. Like much of the rest of Southern Africa Lesotho is in the grip of the HIV/AIDS pandemic. It is estimated that a quarter of the population of Lesotho is HIV positive, 18,000 of which are children. With the motto ‘No child without a smile!’, CWB bring support to these children who, despite all their problems, love to smile.
A Q&A with the film director Mike Casey and Jonathan Gunning from CWB will follow screening. The night will close with African drums and groovy tunes by world music band Almond Blue.
Shebeen Flick is a new film night showing loved and unseen Irish films in Shebeen Chic, 4 Georges Street, Dublin 2. The screenings are free and open to all.
On this special occasion the organisers will be asking for a suggested donation of €5 per person. All proceeds will be donated to Clowns Without Borders.
