The IFI is to welcome director Apichatpong Weerasethakul to introduce the Irish premiere of his 2010 Palme d’Or winning film, Uncle Boonmee Who Can Recall His Past Lives, this evening at 6.10 pm.
Uncle Boonmee is the latest film from Thai artist and filmmaker Weerasethakul, whose internationally renowned work will be the focus of a film retrospective at the IFI and an exhibition at IMMA in Dublin in July 2011.
Uncle Boonmee is a mysterious and haunting account of the last days in the life of its title character. Preparing for his earthly demise, Boonmee is visited by relatives and ghosts, both human and animal, as he recalls episodes from his past.
Apichatpong Weerasethakul will take part in a Q+A after the screening.
