IFI Family Festival
The IFI Family Festival (8th–11th July) gets off to a great start with a sell-out programme of workshops, a fantastic programme of films and the announcement of a special World Cup Final day penalty shootout event with RTÉ’s Rob Ross
The IFI Family Festival, part of Temple Bar Cultural Trust The Summer Sensational, opens on Thursday with an exciting range of the best family films selected from around the world aimed at children aged 4-12 (and their parents). The programme of hands-on animation workshops have been so popular that they are now completely sold out but there are still tickets available for most of the family film screenings that include a football film from Spain, a fantastical and beautiful French eco-animation, and an outdoor screening of Oscar®-nominated Irish animation The Secret of Kells.
The Festival will get off to a super start when it is opened by the IFI Family Festival patron, RTÉ’s Kathryn McKiernan. The fun begins with a special event from well-known art, music and technology group Synth Eastwood creating an interactive film fun installation in their first ever event for families. It is an opportunity for children to star in their very own film which will be shown on the Closing Night of the Festival and online at the IFI’s website. And to top it all off, it’s completely free!
